Just as smoked marijuana has been found to be effective for neuropathic pain, this 2013 study confirmed that vaporized marijuana works for patients as well. This is a great finding for people who don't enjoy smoking, or don't want to risk the potentially adverse health effects of frequent marijuana smoking, such as bronchitis.
Researchers in this well-controlled study administered a "low" dose and a "medium" dose to patients who had been resistant to other treatments. They found that it only took a low dose of vaporized marijuana to see a significant improvement in pain, and that was as effective as traditional neuropathic pain medications. Furthermore, psychoactive effects were reported to be "minimal" and "well-tolerated."
