Researchers in this placebo-controlled, double-blind study wanted to determine the efficacy of the synthetic cannabinoid nabilone for the treatment of fibromyalgia pain. Nabilone is an analog to tetrahydrocannabinol, mimicking its effects on the body. Of the 40 patients in this study, those who were administered the nabilone reported that the treatment significantly decreased both their pain and their anxiety over the placebo group. The researchers concluded that nabilone was a safe and effective treatment for fibromyalgia pain.
